About the role
Overview Panasonic Canada Inc. is currently looking to hire for the position of Business Development Manager - Commercial Foodservice. The Business Development Manager will drive mid-range to long term specific organizational strategic goals for the commercial appliance market, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals, and maintains extensive knowledge of specific markets and related market conditions. The successful incumbent will identify business opportunities for relevant commercial appliance product offering to promote sustainable and profitable sales in the food service/restaurant equipment market. In conjunction with sales, factories, and Business Manager roles, develop complex medium- and long-term sales strategies based on current and future business needs designing unique to client solutions including emerging technologies.
This is a full-time position.
This position is hybrid. Any office-based work will be performed from our Mississauga office at Ambler Drive.
This role requires travel of up to 40% with approximately 85% of travel taking place within Canada and 15% outside of Canada. Travel requirements are subject to change based on business needs.

Responsibilities
- Develops, expands and generates new business opportunities in the assigned industry, driving revenue, market share, and margins. Sets, and achieves or exceeds performance or outcome targets and budgets or other financial targets. Monitors progress on performance targets. Advises senior management of status, issues, and resolutions. Creates and maintains project or opportunity pipeline.
- Prospects, networks, and obtains referrals to build, grow, maintain, and leverage relationships. Creates, promotes and maintains strong strategic relationships with partners, industry experts, influencers, and governmental regulatory bodies to generate business and enhance the development of assigned product lines and business opportunities.
- Analyzes market data reports, collaborates internally, and networks information to uncover competitive markets, incremental opportunities, and analyzes and report on issues surrounding loss of business opportunities.
- Manages sales to distributors, restaurant equipment resellers and end users on Commercial Microwave products. Works with product marketing teams to provide support, create promotions and drive sales. Works with these accounts to resolve day to day issues.
- Conducts demonstrations, or training sessions to create awareness, and to drive solution sales. Analyzes feedback, and informs interested parties of solutions or requirements, and or makes course corrections as required. Attends industry functions, events, conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and trends.
- Develops unique selling propositions, and differentiators. Creates, identifies, and pursues opportunities for products, services and distribution channels.
- Ensures compliance with policy and procedure, contract arrangements, and best practice.
Qualifications
- 3 or 4 years undergraduate education from a college or university.
- 7 to 10 years of related work experience in business development and new account development within commercial appliances and food service equipment industry.
- Ability to maintain and build new relationships within the industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to conduct in-depth analysis and suggest changes to policies.
- Build rapport with internal and external stakeholders to influence and negotiate.
