WHAT WE ARE HIRING FOR

WHY WORK FOR US? You will be an integral part of our dedicated Sports Instructor team who continually strive to make a difference in the recreation and cultural lives of North Vancouver residents by providing excellent customer service experience. NVRC is expanding its outdoor programming to provide opportunities for skill development, helping our community access our natural environment.

We are looking for a Mountain biking Instructor whose role will be to provide a safe and fun, skill building experience for children and youth who are just learning to mountain bike.

ABOUT YOU You are an energetic and highly motivated individual who understands, and can demonstrate, basic mountain biking skills and is familiar with bike trail safety & etiquette. You have experience working with children and youth, creating engaging lesson plans based on basic skill acquisition and progression, and a good grasp of small group management. . You are a team player who is committed to community. You are reliable, responsive to customer needs and excellent at building relationships. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people and instructing in a safe and friendly manner.

You will be responsible for lesson planning and delivery of quality instruction to beginner mountain bikers that may include school age children, youth, and adults. NVRC sport instructors promote the principles of physical literacy and include the development of fundamental movement skills in each class.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age, with an athletic aptitude, be a competent mountain biker and be familiar with North Shore mountain bike trails in Lynn Valley and Inter River areas. The instructor must have experience in planning and leading mountain bike lessons or camps for children and youth. Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification or equivalent 8-hour course is required. Hours may vary depending on the program and instructors should be prepared to work during the day, evening and/or on the weekend. All employees should be prepared to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.

**HOURLY RATE:**The pay for this casual position is $30.91 per hour, based on education and experience, plus 4% vacation pay.
