About the role

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Programmeur(-euse) senior en jouabilité / Senior Gameplay Programmer - Remote in Canada.

The Senior Gameplay Programmer will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining engaging gameplay mechanics and systems for high-quality action games. You will collaborate closely with designers, animators, and other programmers to bring game concepts to life, ensuring that gameplay feels fun, polished, and technically robust. This role involves prototyping, coding, testing, debugging, and optimizing complex game features while maintaining high standards of performance and reliability. You will contribute to multiple titles, participate in code reviews, and help define best practices across the development team. The ideal candidate combines strong programming expertise with a deep understanding of game design, AI, physics, and animation. This position offers an opportunity to work in a highly creative and collaborative environment with teams across the globe.

Accountabilities:

·        Propose, implement, and own gameplay tasks and features within project timelines.

·        Collaborate closely with Principal and Project Architects to ensure high-quality, reliable code and features.

·        Participate in code reviews to share knowledge and adopt best practices.

·        Work with QA teams to define testing requirements and ensure gameplay functionality.

·        Prototype, code, test, debug, and iterate on complex gameplay systems and mechanics.

·        Profile and optimize implemented features, identifying and refactoring inefficient or outdated systems.

·        Collaborate with designers to define gameplay requirements, propose technically sound and fun solutions, and enhance player experience.

·        Stay informed of industry trends, competitive analysis, and cutting-edge development techniques.

Requirements

·        6+ years of experience in console or PC game development.

·        Strong proficiency in primary programming language (C++).

·        Solid knowledge of 3D mathematics, AI, physics, animation, and general gameplay systems.

·        Experience with source control and code review tools (Swarm, Perforce, Git).

·        Familiarity with project management tools (JIRA, Confluence).

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

·        Proven experience in at least one full production cycle of a game title.

·        Strong problem-solving skills and a keen sense of what makes gameplay enjoyable.

·        Nice to have: experience with other programming languages, proprietary engines, console development (PS5, Xbox One), and optimization/profiling techniques.
