JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Director holds overall accountability for the leadership, management, and strategic direction of programs and services delivered at Windsor Regional Hospital. This role requires a collaborative approach to cultivating and enhancing partnerships within WRH, as well as across local and regional networks, to ensure the provision of high-quality care and optimal patient outcomes. The Director will leverage advanced operational acumen and comprehensive clinical or administrative expertise to oversee an integrated patient care portfolio, driving excellence in service delivery, coordination, and system integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborates with the Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive and managers, program staff and physicians to set realistic program goals, targets, standards and outcomes and to manage and report results that is consistent with the mission, values and strategy of Windsor Regional Hospital.

Responds to complex, sensitive and/or contentious issues and queries, ensuring patient care service needs are met.

Establishes and oversees execution of long and short-term strategies, goals and objectives for the portfolio in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction and ensure alignment with community partner strategies.

Fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and communication to ensure optimal patient care.

Provides leadership in standardized approaches and processes within the program, including admission and discharge practices, bed utilization, team communication, documentation, and the development and use of patient care pathways etc.

Establishes portfolio policies, practices and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, service delivery and the operationalization of learning, skill development and capability.

Collaborates with all stakeholders to set realistic program goals, targets, standards and outcomes and to manage and report results in collaboration with the Vice President, Chie Nursing Executive, and Managers

Oversees management of portfolio financial and employee resources to support the achievement of goals and objectives and recommends for approval portfolio operating plans/ budgets.

Contributes authoritatively to the organization’s strategic plan and vision.

Establishes portfolio infrastructure that promotes the integration of programs, services and activities.

Represents Critical Care and Respiratory Programs within a variety of internal and external programs/committees as required.

Authoritatively represents the organization’s position at industry and community forums/meetings.

Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Effective communication with and understanding of others

Ability to communicate in the French Language would be considered an asset

Innovative approach to handling change

Highly developed critical thinking skills and the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems

Demonstrated ability to make quality and innovative decisions based on data
QUALIFICATIONS:

Current registration with applicable College or Association required
-
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, health, business or related discipline required

Master’s Degree in nursing, health, business or related discipline preferred
-
A minimum of seven (7) years health-related leadership and/or managerial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in the Province of Ontario, serving a population of 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. It is the regional provider of advanced care in areas that include Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery, Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric Services, Regional Cancer services and a broad range of medical and surgical services required to support these specialized areas.
Through a major initiative involving the two hospitals in Windsor, a realignment of programs and services was achieved on October 1, 2013, when Windsor Regional Hospital became responsible for the governance, management and operations of the Ouellette Campus (previously Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital along with continuing its responsibility for the Metropolitan Campus. The ultimate vision is to design and construct a new state-of-the-art acute hospital healthcare facility serving the needs of Windsor-Essex for generations to come.
Providing Acute Care Services with 650 plus beds and an operating budget of half of a billion dollars, Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest community based non-academic hospitals in the Province of Ontario.
