About the job: Kent is looking for a Project Manager in Sarnia Ontario
To act as the primary contact for clients regarding performance or non-performance of assigned projects and foster strong relationships leading to growth in project portfolios across multiple clients. To create and maintain an attitude of leadership towards the project team with respect to overall management activities (including quality assurance, engineering, procurement, planning and controls, construction management, pre-commissioning, industrial labour relations and safety) to achieve a quality project, while respecting the established budget and schedule objectives.

Understand the company’s local and global systems and Kent’s way of managing projects

Be prepared to attend training in specific company systems and integrate your own Project Management knowledge with these systems

Using the company’s finance, ERP system always maintains a good understanding of their project’s costs and revenue position. Understands earned value management and is able to advise with confidence on the project's forecasted cost position at any stage
-
Assist with project estimate at proposal stage
-
Take responsibility for the project’s cost performance and maintaining the planned margins
-
Control project costs by reviewing and approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts
-
Liaise with the finance team or PMO to manage time writing changes and purchase orders and most importantly the timely and accurate issuing of invoices
-
Liaises with clients to ensure Variations, Change Orders, PO’s, or invoices are received or paid
-
Maintain cash flow objectives by billing promptly and resolving queries or disputes on invoices
-
Understand the scope to the necessary level of detail to enable you to effectively manage the project you are delivering
-
Develop, or assist in the development of project execution plans, proposals, and estimates
-
Understand project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with management
-
Proactively manage project change by identifying variations and any associated ‘extension of time’ (EoT) requirements to the agreed scope and schedule while also agreeing these variations and/or EOT’s with the client
-
Project closeout including capture of lessons learned, marketing materials, and appropriate archiving activities
-
Prepare the project schedule with input and ‘buy-in’ from the engineering or wider projects team
-
Prepare or assist with the preparation of overview schedules at proposal stage
-
Work with project planners to ensure the development and maintenance of schedules
-
Maintain the project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
-
Take responsibility for the health of the project including the schedule performance
-
Proactively manage project change by identifying any schedule changes with the client
-
Ensure the Kent business and legal policies including the Kent Management System (KMS) Quality Processes for Project Execution are adhered to
-
Assist with project audits
-
Obtain, coordinate, and manage the resources and tools required to execute the project
-
Ensure the correct resources are planned for the project and are available to execute the project
-
Raise any resource concerns that may jeopardise the outcome of the project with senior management
-
Ability to work with and coordinate with remote and dispersed or global project delivery teams
-
Understands the requirements of the internal and external project stakeholders and proactively aims to ensure all communication requirements are met for both formal and informal communications
-
Prepares project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions
-
Maintain an accurate estimate of the costs to complete and update client and internal reports within the agreed timeframe or frequency
-
Preparation of a ‘Risk and Opportunities’ register during the different project proposal or planning phases
-
Review of risk & opportunities register when there is a significant change to the project (e.g. moving from design to construction)
-
Maintain the project risk and opportunities register, implementing mitigating or promotion actions as appropriate
-
Identify any opportunities or issues and put actions in place to promote or mitigate them. Report in a timely manner any key opportunities or issues to senior management

Review and ensure full legal review of client contracts during the proposal phase

Develop or assist with the development of Contract

Read and understand the project contract

Ensure awareness of contracts administrative requirements and ensure delivery of these contractual requirements

Understand contractual requirements; particularly areas of risk; and communicate these to the project team or senior management

Ensure subcontractors are correctly engaged using the Kent commercial artifacts/templates and ERP

When required assist client with project procurement applying project experience to realise benefits to the overall project and the client

Understand who the key stakeholders are on the project, both internally and externally

Co-ordinate all parties involved, including engineering teams, other business units, and sub-consultants

Communicate objectives to the project team

Serve as a focal point for all client communication

Cultivate good client relationships and manage client expectations

Interact regularly with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the fiel
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. Minimum 15 years of relevant oil and gas project experience

Demonstrated ability to manage multi-discipline teams doing feasibility, FEED and detailed engineering, procurement and execution phases of projects

Honors degree or additional postgraduate qualification
