Reporting to the Manager, Advance Qualification Program (AQP), the AQP Software Manager is responsible for the effective configuration, maintenance of the Training Management Software. This role ensures accurate tracking of pilot qualifications and adherence to regulatory compliance standards.
As the primary liaison for Flight Operations departments on training software matters, coordinating with Corporate IT and external vendors to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for managing Air Canada Rouge’s integration into the mainline AQP Framework. This includes, overseeing the transition to a new training software platform and replacing legacy systems.
Responsibilities:
- Configure the Training Management Software to capture all required data and maintain accurate records for pilots and trainees.
- Responsible for the configuration, support, and maintenance of Air Canada Rouge’s training software systems, ensuring alignment with mainline standards and regulatory compliance.
- Play a key role in the successful integration of Air Canada Rouge into the mainline AQP program, including software harmonization, data migration, and process alignment.
- Act as the key point person in the implementation of the new Mint software, replacing legacy systems to enhance training data management, reporting capabilities, and user experience across both mainline and Rouge operations.
- Build currency requirements within the Training Management Software to support accurate forecasting, training planning, and expiry date tracking.
- Collaborate with the Flight Operations Branch to identify and implement continuous improvements in software configurations.
- Develop event handlers within the Training Management Software to automate routine tasks.
- Develop and execute testing strategies for software updates prior to production deployment.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless data integration between the training systems and other related systems (e.g., NetLine).
- Assist with the development and modification of business processes, including documentation, to leverage the Training Management Software for process efficiencies.
- Update and maintain training footprints for all courses to ensure scheduling accuracy.
- Support the Crew Scheduling department by managing the addition and removal of training sessions as needed.
- Provide end-user support for the Training Management Software, including troubleshooting and implementing corrections as necessary.
- Communicate unresolved software issues with Flight Operations IT representatives and software vendors for resolution.
- Ensure data capture aligns with AQP training requirements.
- Assist the AQP Training Statistician in gathering data reports for analysis as required.
- Upload scripts and associated documentation to the training management Software for instructor access during training sessions.
- Coordinate fixes to grade sheet errors or data entry issues inputted by instructors.
- Enter curriculum information into the training management system to ensure proper data capture from training and evaluation events.
- Generate required AQP regulatory data reporting to Transport Canada.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. information technology, Computer Science, Aviation Management etc.) or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
- Proven teamwork, managerial, and administrative skills. Breadth (the scope) of skills and expertise required for the position.
- Fluency in English Language to Air Canada Standard.
- Familiar with airline training management software such as MINT is an asset.
- Advanced ability to use MS office suite including Excel.
- Strong Knowledge of Database operations (MS Access/SQL) and report generation an asset.
- Familiarity with JavaScript and basic programming an asset.
- Strong Working knowledge of Transport Canada aviation regulations and pilot training requirements.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
