Based in the Air Canada Montreal Headquarters and reporting to the Senior Manager, Revenue Development - VFR Markets, the Pricing Analyst is responsible to maintain competitive selling fare structures on assigned group of Origin-Destination (OD) and Point of Sales (POS), as well as to ensure the quality and accuracy of the fare input into the Revenue Management system.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyze and respond to competitive fare initiatives in all channels including websites and ensure these actions are decoded into the PROS O&D system as required.
- Develop and implement pricing initiatives in response to various demand indicators in cooperation with the Demand Analyst and in line with the corporate objectives.
- Implement changes to pricing structure, monitor results on demand and adjust accordingly. Maintain integrity and efficiency of the fare structure.
- Understand and analyze market dynamics, price elasticity and demand channels
- Demonstrate leadership and initiative by recommending pricing actions to the Demand Analyst to optimise revenues. Analyze reports and identify trends to support these recommendations.
- Communicate, as required, with the Demand Analyst and the Flight Analyst all pricing information, specifically net fares, override commissions and special group details so that they can make their day-to-day revenue management decisions
- Incorporate market and policy changes to fare structure through fare influences.
- Ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness of the pricing and revenue accounting data entered into the PROS OD Fare Valuation module (PCFV) as well as the Decision Fares that are its output.
- Manage the Origin-Destination fare values in PCFV by reviewing fare alerts and making adjustments as needed to ensure the input fares to the Revenue Management system reflect selling fares in the market.
- Understand the Special Prorate Agreement in particular as they are an input into PCFV.
- Interface (and coordinate if permitted) with other airlines including Star Alliance members and code share partners.
- Liaise with Sales to collect market intelligence regarding fares and competitive pricing initiatives, communicate this to the Demand Analyst then translate this feedback (as required) into base fare influences so the input to the PROS O&D Optimizer and Real Time Dynamic Pricing (RTDP) reflects market conditions and dynamics.
- Support Marketing/Sales Communications by providing content to support marketing initiatives.
Qualifications
- University degree required. Studies in engineering, mathematics, economics, accounting, business or statistics would be an asset.
- Solid business/commercial orientation and experience as well as an understanding of the airline industry competitive
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to generate reports and successfully translate and communicate the data to achieve corporate goals
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and to prioritize heavy workloads and tight deadlines
- Must be a team player, self-starter and able to work under general direction
- Proven leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Excel and Word applications. Knowledge of access is an asset
- Previous experience with AirPrice, ATPCO and Infare is an asset.
- Airline reservations systems background, pricing and tariff / rates knowledge are assets
- Experience and knowledge in Origin-Destination Revenue Management an asset
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
