About the role
Job Title: Senior Accountant / Auditor (Intermediate) Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid) Contract Duration: August 4, 2026 – January 27, 2028
Key Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports related to interest income and other financial activities. Record quarterly accounting entries associated with restricted investments. Perform quarterly and annual accounting for insurance captive entities and insurance programs. Prepare Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) disclosures and Financial Statement note disclosures related to interest income and foreign exchange. Manage intercompany and inter-affiliate settlements. Collaborate with Finance, Corporate Accounting team members, and Information Systems (IS) teams on SAP testing related to intercompany and external loan setups, as well as treasury derivatives. Support ad hoc financial analysis, reporting requests, and special projects as required.
Required Qualifications: Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional accounting designation (CPA, CGA, or CMA). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and build strong working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of consolidation accounting, financial statement presentation, and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). Strong working knowledge of SAP ECC and SAP BPC. Experience working with multiple functional currencies. Experience supporting complex corporate accounting functions in a large organization.
Education: CPA, CGA, or CMA designation required. University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
