Ready to Make an impact?
The Maintenance Technician is responsible to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to MHE and operate a refrigeration plant. Assist with repairs on all equipment throughout the Retail Support Centre (RSC). Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment. Record keeping of RSC equipment, rack inspections, all battery maintenance and repairs.
Available Shift: Tuesday – Saturday 8am – 4:30pm
Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing
- General knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilating, refrigeration, fire systems, plumbing, lighting systems, dock levelers, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings
- Skilled in the use of power/hand tools
- Fall Arrest/Working at Heights & Aerial lift certifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Class II Building Operator Certificate (or equivalent experience)
- Able to work in variable temperature conditions
- Follow and maintain preventative maintenance schedule on all equipment.
- Operation of Ammonia Refrigeration Plant (If on site)
- Understand Preventive Maintenance Programs such as Verisae, Capital Asset Tracking with Sobeys MSC (Maintenance Solution Center).
- Perform necessary repairs and PMs on all equipment.
- Maintain parts inventory and re-ordering replacement parts as needed.
- Be flexible with the shifts to maintain the equipment and RSC.
- Be on call 24/7 basis.
- Complete all daily inspections in a thorough and timely manner.
- Maintain RSC battery fleet and chargers.
- Maintain dock doors, dock plates, and door seals.
- Daily inspection and record keeping of refrigeration system.
- Daily inspection and record keeping of sprinkler systems.
- Adhere to and implement all applicable Food Safety program requirements.
- All other duties as required to maintain the RSC.\

What You Have To Offer
- High School Diploma
- Experience in an industrial forklift and pallet jack repair and maintenance.
- Experience in industrial battery maintenance repair and maintenance.
- Experience in welding.
- Experience in electrical repairs
- Experience working with excel spread sheets for tracking and scheduling of all battery maintenance, battery watering, battery cleaning, rack torque, plumb inspection, monthly rack inspection and store electric pallet jacks
- Ability to communicate with suppliers, contractors and team members.
- Ability to safely use required tools to perform duties assigned.
- Experience in use of Hot Work Permits.
- Experience in use of Red Tag Permits.
- Previous experience in a Retail Support Centre Environment.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial forklift repair setting.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial battery maintenance and repair setting. Must be able to work unsupervised and complete assigned tasks.
- Safe working practices working around industrial warehouse equipment.
