Job Description:
The Cardiac Care Unit is a 7-bed inpatient unit with all private rooms, highly specialized unit staffed and equipped to care for patients with serious cardiology conditions that require advanced monitoring and or interventions. The CCU is a multidisciplinary health care team that works with patients and their loved ones as they arrive to the unit. The multidisciplinary CCU team, including cardiologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers and other allied health professionals that work collaboratively to provide excellence and high quality patient and family centered care. As the Resource Nurse your role will coordinate the daily direct care delivery activities of staff and ensures compliance with Health Centre and Unit standards, policies and procedures.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
- Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Baccalaureate preparation in a health related field preferred
- Resource Nurse, Team Leader, or Charge Nurse experience
- Leadership, teaching and/or mentorship experience
- Current Basic Life Saving
- Successful completion of a recognized Leadership Diploma/Certificate or equivalent preferred
- Canadian Nurses Association Specialty Certification as applicable to nursing service area
- Critical Care certificate required from a recognized college. Will consider if in progress and completion date is prior to April 2018
- Coronary Care I& II required
- Continuing educational courses specific to nursing service area
- Progressive clinical experience
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of critical care experience or equivalent experience in ED/CCU or ICU is require
- Current ACLS is required
- Computer literacy in current software applications
- Membership in professional association specific to nursing service area
- Must pass a screening arrhythmia quiz obtaining an 80% to move onto interview phase
- Previous experience with Code STEMI processes and patients care pre and post myocardial infarction required
- Previous Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump experience an asset
- Experience with arterial hemodynamic monitoring is required
- Ventilator experience required
- Previous Swan Ganz line experience preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role or Resource Nurse position is preferred
- Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography and rhythm interpretation an asset
- Recent experience in the care of the acute Post Angiogram/Angioplasty patient preferred
- Groin Management sheath removal experience preferred
- Radial site management experience preferred
- Experience in an O.R setting and sterile procedure set-up is an asset

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario, provides safe, high-quality care for residents across a large geographical region including Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka. The area is home to more than 450,000 residents, with half of RVH’s patients living outside the City of Barrie.
As the largest health centre in North Simcoe Muskoka, RVH provides highly specialized services, and technology not found anywhere else in the region. This includes the only interventional radiology suites for minimally invasive surgeries, vascular services, advanced stroke care, as well as dedicated trauma rooms in its large Emergency department. RVH is also home to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Heart Program, Simcoe Muskoka Regional Child and Youth Program and the RVH Regional Renal Program meaning distance is no longer a factor for residents receiving lifesaving treatment.
