Summary We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Combustion Management and Industry Applications CoE Business Unit within our Calgary Solutions Centre. The successful candidate will lead multi discipline teams in the delivery solutions that include electrical or mechanical equipment, combustion applications, or process packages across a wide customer base. This role will report to the Combustion and Industry Applications Manager, Operations.
Role And Responsibilities
- Drive the lifecycle of a project from sales to delivery of a quality solution, delivered to the Customer using Spartan Project Excellence processes.
- Work with our customer(s) to understand and ensure compliance with all applicable customer engineering and safety standards, practices, procedures, plant documentation requirements and methods of installation.
- Establish project lifecycle schedules and demonstrate agility in adjusting pace and re-evaluating strategies to ensure timely completion of project milestones while meeting customer delivery expectations.
- Maintain accurate project financial reporting including forecasting of expected costs and identifying reasons for cost differentials from project bid to execution to completion.
- Interfacing with Spartan’s manufacturing shop, outsourced vendors, and third-party contractors to produce a quality delivered solution.
- Resourcefulness to work with your team and other business units to find solutions to project roadblocks.
- Manage project documentation records and requirements from customers with assistance from the project engineering team and document control group.
- Collaborate with the Project Management Team Lead, Engineering Team Leads, and Sales to drive internal process improvements.
- Prepare monthly status reports and financial updates for customer and management
- Conduct project close-out and lessons learned meetings.
- Escalate risks and critical issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate site service specialists and project commissioning team. Ensure required permits, site safety orientations, and customer processes are followed.
Qualifications And Skills
- Engineering degree or Technologist Diploma.
- PMP designation, an asset.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, standards and practices as they pertain to fired (combustion) solutions: CSA B149.1, CSA B149.3, NFPA 85, ASME B31.3.
- Minimum 3 years of related engineering project experience with a strong focus on managing packaged module scopes such as skids, buildings, process piping and tubing.
- Project management experience with OEM and/or process packagers, an asset
- Experience with fired (combustion) equipment an asset.
- SAP experience, an asset
- Fabrication shop experience an asset.
- Strong leadership skills, with ability to effectively work in a team environment.
- Entrepreneurial work ethic with a strong customer service focus.
- Strong negotiating skills; exceptional verbal and written communication.
