1 Hour Per Day - Up to 5 days per week / 10 months per year

Reports to and works under the direction of the School Principal or his/her designate. Provides supervision of

students inside school facilities and on the school campus during lunch periods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of Grade 10 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Up to 3 months experience dealing effectively with elementary school aged children.

Knowledge of basic First Aid.

Ability to communicate effectively with administration, staff and students. Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Ability to use good judgement when confronted with difficult situations and when providing information.

Knowledge of school behavioural rules, guidelines and procedures for effective enforcement is an asset.

Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.

Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Willingness to participate in workshops designed to provide assistance in various approaches to handling behaviour problems/conflict resolution.

Knowledge of WCB and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices.

Some positions may require the knowledge of a language other than English.

DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for monitoring student behaviour and safety and for enforcing school rules, policies and guidelines concerning student behaviour inside school facilities (cafeteria, library, activity rooms, hallways, etc.) on the school grounds and other designated areas.

  2. Reports and documents serious incidents and/or repetitive misbehaviour to administration and/or teachers. Assists in addressing inappropriate group behaviour.

  3. Administers basic first aid for minor injuries.

  4. Observes and reports to supervisor unusual activities, and/or persons on or near the school property.

  5. Remains current with changing technology, practices and equipment.

  6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
