Job Summary
To ensure all dishes, glassware, and utensils are cleaned to standard and maintain the cleanliness of the kitchens for the hotel.
Job Title: Steward Reports To: Sous Chef/Executive Chef Department: Kitchen Availability: Full Time
Starting Wage for the position will be CA$20.84 on probation and will increase to CA$26.05 after probation is completed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year cleaning experience in a Hotel or related industry. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management. Good organizational and problem solving skills. Good oral communication skills. Ability to lift weight up to 70 pounds
Daily Tasks
Providing all guest with friendly and professional services in a timely manner. Reading, understanding and abiding by the Associate Handbook, hotel policies and department procedures. Knowing all emergency procedures and being able to respond accordingly. Also assisting by reporting any unusual activities or individuals to the Security Department. Maintain dress code standards as outlined in the Associate Handbook. Maintaining the work area in a clean and orderly manner Set up dishwashing machine by filling with water, soap and rinsing agents. Knowing and following all WHMIS regulations which relate to chemicals used. To refill machine with supplies as required Check temperature of the water during operation to ensure that it is at the correct sanitation level. Scrape and rack dirty dishes as they arrive from the food operations. To ensure safe stacking procedures are used to limit personal injury. Soak silverware in special solutions before washing and to place in baskets. Ensure cups and other items are placed in the appropriate racks. Care is to be taken of all operational equipment and hotel property, if unsure of required care, seek out a supervisor for training. Ensure filled racks continuously move through the washing cycle, timed so that excess water is not wasted or so there is not a build up of dirty dishes at the area. Unload the clean and air-dried dishes, etc. from the washing racks and stack in proper area set aside exclusively for the clean dishes. Responsible for washing dishwashing machine at the end of the shift Wash by hand all pots, bowls and utensils that are brought to the pot washing area by other kitchen associates. Air-dry these items and put in their appropriate storage areas. Ensure all garbage bins are emptied and cleaned at the end of each shift Ensure all food bins, when full are taken to garbage room and clean one brought back to the kitchen each shift Ensure all floors are clean, dry and free of debris at all times Check supplies at the start of each shift and report any chemicals which have expired. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Management.
