As a Track Technologist, you will be responsible for maintaining the technical and administrative aspects of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Track and Way systems. You will provide leadership and support to ensure track preventative maintenance is completed as per the required frequency and ensure reliable, safe and cost-effective services. Primary duties include:
- Provide technical expertise on LRT track and way assets such as rail, ties, ballast, crossings, fencing and special track work.
- Create work plans and coordinate with various parties for implementation of various track maintenance, repairs and projects.
- Analyze and evaluate inspection reports and update track asset conditions for maintenance and lifecycle replacement planning.
- Act as a primary administrator for the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system including assigning preventative maintenance/repair tasks, managing configurations, workflows and training.
- Manage materials inventory and supply contracts to ensure year-round availability for track maintenance and replacement projects.
- Perform site inspections to create deficiency lists and develop track maintenance plans/programs.
- Generate and distribute reports including asset performance, maintenance key performance indicators and the utilization of resources.
- Develop, update and continuously improve technical documents such as maintenance manuals, drawings and procedures.
- Investigate incidents or issues involving track asset failures and provide technical reports and recommendations for resolution.
- Prepare/evaluate procurement documents (for example: Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Quotes (RFQ)) and create requisitions for purchase orders for external services and material supply procurement.
- Address Customer Service Requests and complaints.
- Ensure Property Damage Occurrence Reports (PDOR's) are created and filed efficiently for cost recovery.
Qualifications
- A completed diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related technology discipline and at least 5 years of experience in track maintenance, construction and/or design.
- Knowledge of track maintenance and safety standards will be essential to success.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- The successful applicant will require excellent communication skills with a focus on building interpersonal relationships, the ability to manage time and projects while demonstrating good decision making.

**Pre-employment Drug Test:**An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
