Job Summary

At Systemair, we have a passion for indoor air quality. We are constantly striving to provide ventilation solutions that improve health and productivity in an energy-efficient and sustainable manner. Innovation is in our DNA, and we continue to grow in terms of capabilities, product range, size, sales volume, and market share. We employ and empower people to take initiative and make decisions with the best interests of our customers and team at heart by achieving our goals to be an Employer, Brand, Investment, and Neighbor of Choice. Simply put, we prioritize, simplify, and trust, while committing to accountable behavior and personal responsibility at work and with our neighbors.

You will be working in the Technical Department on the Design Team in a hybrid role that combines project coordination with direct engineering contribution. This position will support and execute technical design efforts tied to special or custom application requests that need direct engineering support, while also coordinating and implementing cross-functional technical inquiries, assignments, and objectives across sales, operations, production, procurement, quality, after sales and other cross function teams. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on translating complex customer and CFT needs into real, manufacturable solutions — and is just as comfortable reviewing 3D models as they are leading technical discussions and driving timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to engineering tasks related to custom product applications and various technical assignments, including technical review, design modifications, performance evaluations, and technical documentation.
  • Work directly with sales engineering, product & technical management, and customers (as required) to evaluate custom application needs and translate them into feasible technical solutions.
  • Own and manage technical assignments related to custom AHU configurations, ECO’s and various CFT technical requirements, balancing technical depth with schedule, resource, costs, and cross-departmental coordination.
  • Act as technical liaison across departments — engineering, sales, production, quality, procurement and after sales — ensuring alignment and timely resolution of issues.
  • Conduct design reviews and risk assessments; ensure technical integrity, cost controls and manufacturability of special configurations and technical requests.
  • Develop or modify 2D & 3D models, component layouts, and design details using CAD software (AutoCAD, CREO).
  • Support internal product standards and assist with the development of scalable solutions for recurring special requests.
  • Track and manage project/assignment scope, tasks, and deliverables using project management tools.
  • Having a working knowledge of, and apply all related safety, regulatory, and performance standards in the design and applications of products
  • Other activities as directed by the Design Manager

Skills, Education, and/or Experience

The following are education and experience criteria used to evaluate the suitability of the Product Engineer Profile or candidates for the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably with semi-custom or engineered-to-order HVAC products or industrial equipment.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD); ability to create and revise 2D & 3D models and assemblies.
  • Experience preferred in project coordination or managing technical deliverables, schedules, and multi-departmental input.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC fundamentals and AHU components (fans, coils, dampers, controls, etc.).
  • Clear technical communication skills (verbal and written), especially when bridging between engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with design standards, regulatory and certification requirements (e.g., UL, ASHRAE, AHRI), and DFM principles.
  • Working knowledge of Bill of Materials and MRP/ERP Systems.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment and manage multiple projects and assignments
  • Flexible and adaptable to learning, understanding, and applying new technologies

Job Conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and looking at a computer.
  • Light physical effort – able to lift up to 20lbs at times.

Work Environment:

  • Office, Factory, Warehouse.
  • R&D Lab (occasionally when required)

The job conditions described here and above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions of the position. Proper use of PPE such as safety glasses, closed toe shoes, hearing protection, gloves, face shields and other equipment as designated by the job being performed in a production environment is mandatory.
