Role:

The Supported Excursions, Experiences and Discovery (SEEDs) Program supports adults with disabilities to explore new cities and experiences with the support they need. These trips are about connection, discovery, and making meaningful memories.

As SEEDs Summer Assistant, you enjoy planning with accessibility in mind, collaborating with others, and helping to bring people’s ideas and goals to life. In this role, you will work closely with the Respite Recreation and Leisure (2RL) team to support the transition of group trips to the MyCommunityHub (MCH) platform. This work is part of expanding the SEEDs program to be more accessible to a wider community, beyond those already connected to EAFWR.

The position focuses on supporting the organization and communication needed for program registration and implementation on new platforms. As part of EAFWR’s skills‑building approach, this role is designed to support you in growing your skills in organization, system navigation, research, and Excel proficiency.

This position is funded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation Grow Grant.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of age and legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Lived experience of disability required
  • Brings collaboration, organization, flexibility, clear communication, and a positive attitude to teamwork
  • Multitasking
  • Must be reliable and dependable, punctual and committed
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Experience working with Microsoft excel
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Comfortable working on a computer or laptop
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Hours and Pay

  • This is an in-office position. Work must be completed onsite at the EAFWR office (91 Moore Avenue in Kitchener)
  • Part-time: Up to ten (10) hours per week
  • Wage: $17.74-$18.82/hour + 6% in lieu of vacation time for each position
  • Contact length: This is a 16-week contract, ending September 30, 2026

Responsibilities and Functions:

Reporting to the Supported Excursions, Experiences and Discovery (SEEDs) Program Coordinators, the Summer Assistant will:

  • Monitor participant registrations in MyCommunityHub
  • Send completed registration forms to support staff
  • Save registration forms in EMH ware
  • Send information links to registered participants
  • Connect participants with appropriate support providers after registration closes
  • Communicate required activity purchases to 2RL Coordinators
