The Opportunity
Are you an experienced faller who loves leading a crew, tackling challenging removals, and doing it all with safety at the core? Our Tree Care division is growing, and we’re looking for a Tree Care Foreman (Abatement) to help us continue raising the bar.
If you’re a certified faller (or hold a Faller Endorsement), confident on the tools, and excited to mentor up-and-coming arborists, this might be your next great career move.
What You’ll Do
As our Abatement Foreman, you’ll lead your crew through safe, efficient, and professional tree removal work every day. You’ll be the go-to on site—planning jobs, directing work, and ensuring safety stays front and center.
You’ll also get hands-on with:
- Tree removal and abatement
- Climbing (spurred and spur-less)
- Rigging and rope work
- Operating and maintaining saws, chippers, and lift trucks
- Aerial lift operation
- Equipment maintenance and pre-use inspections
- Emergency procedures and boom operation
- General cleanup and site organization
You’ll also handle:
- Crew time cards
- Leading daily safety talks
- Completing safety forms on the iPad
- Communicating job plans clearly to your crew
- Representing Horizon professionally on every site
What You Bring
Certifications & Requirements
- Certified Faller or Faller Endorsement (required)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (Air Brake endorsement an asset)
- Arboriculture or horticulture education is a bonus
- ISA Arborist Cert, TRAQ, Utility Certification, or TCP are assets
Experience
- Experience in a physical, safety-focused outdoor environment
- At least 1 year of supervisory or crew leadership experience
- Strong climbing skills (spurred and spur-less)
- Confident with aerial lifts, chipper operation, and rigging
- Equipment maintenance experience
- Comfortable driving lift trucks
Skills & Strengths
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Safety-minded and mechanically inclined
- Good customer service and professional presence
- Tech comfortable (iPad forms, Outlook, etc.)
- Great problem-solving skills and a team-first approach
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on role. You’ll need to be able to:
- Lift 50+ lbs
- Bend, crouch, twist, climb, and work at heights
- Work on your feet for long periods
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions

- $45–$50/hour starting wage
