Are you passionate about piano performance and enjoy teaching a variety of ages? Join the City of Surrey's Culture division and contribute to the growth and innovation of our arts community through development and instruction of performing arts courses and camps. The City of Surrey is looking for an enthusiastic and creative piano instructor at Clayton Community Centre to instruct private lessons in the community. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging performing arts professional.
##Responsibilities
- Instruct lessons for a variety of ages and abilities, including preschool, children, youth, adults, and seniors.
- Deliver course content that fosters skill building and individual expression.
- Facilitate developmentally appropriate piano classes that are engaging and accessible.
- Develop and submit detailed lesson plans and supply lists for each program.
- Independently set up, take down, and maintain program space.
- Provide a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Required skills include:
- Able to assess age appropriateness of lessons and materials.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relational skills with participants and staff.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Experience with private music instruction.
##Qualifications
We are looking for dynamic, creative leaders with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the performing arts. Our ideal candidates are effective communicators with strong classroom management skills.
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree/diploma in Piano performance or a related field.
- Certification as an RCM Instructor, with a minimum completion of Level 10 RCM.
- A current Emergency First Aid with CPR-C and AED certificate.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience and a solid understanding of music pedagogy.
- A Valid BC Driver's License is considered an asset.
