Position Summary
Are you passionate about global mobility and eager to make a significant impact? Reporting to the Global Mobility Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing global policies and processes. Your expertise will drive the success of business travel and cross-regional deployments, focusing on taxation, immigration, relocation, and compliance.
As a key member of our Global Mobility team, you will provide expert advice on planning, budgeting, and establishing assignments. You’ll manage relationships and ensure seamless information flow to our global mobility service providers. You’ll also collaborate closely with the Global Mobility Manager to support our business and relocating employees, all while effectively managing costs and cash flow.
As a global resource, there may be times when you’ll be required to work outside of standard working hours, depending on specific cases/mandates. You’ll be required to periodically travel (approximately 1-2 times annually), and flexible working arrangements are available.
Position Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Global Mobility – General
- Acts as an internal consultant throughout all stages of the relocation life cycle, including structuring employment arrangements, preparing offer letters, extended business trip memos, etc.
- Promotes global equity and consistency in communications and advice.
- Develops and recommends policies and procedures for employee relocation as requested by the business, including business travel.
- Oversees service providers for relocation services such as cultural training/orientation, moving, tax advice/consultation, immigration, foreign service premiums, etc.
- Communicates global mobility program policies and practices to employees and key assignment/relocation stakeholders, managing expectations of the business and assignees in all communications.
- Actively finds solutions to challenges raised by the business or assignees.
Global Mobility – Taxation & Payroll
Supports the Global Mobility Manager in the following areas:
- Assists with annual tax preparation list for external tax provider.
- Monitors tax equalizations to ensure timely settlement of assignee obligations.
- Responds to inquiries from assignees, managers, HR, and payroll regarding tax matters.
- Coordinates with Corporate Tax & Finance to align global employee and assignee reporting structures, minimizing tax risk.
- Provides tax input for planning, costing, and implementing cross-jurisdictional relocations and business travel.
Global Mobility – Immigration
Supports the Global Mobility Manager in the following areas:
- Advises regional HR on legislative changes and recommends proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Provides advice on immigration practices and precedents.
- Acts as the primary contact with Methanex global immigration consultants (North America).
Global Mobility – Strategy & Policy
- Develops and implements global mobility policies, practices, and systems, ensuring consistent application through feedback and compliance monitoring.
- Provides proactive global mobility strategies and advice.
- Liaises with external organizations to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
Position Qualifications
Education and/or Professional Designation
- Completed degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, International Business, Law, Finance or Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Experience and Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Minimum of five years of global Human Resources or equivalent global mobility experience, with knowledge of expatriate policy and administration.
- Effective communication skills across cultures and organizational levels.
- Knowledge of taxation, immigration, and employment legislation.
- Strong planning, recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of business fundamentals with attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate and manage multiple projects with global and regional teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to influence and engage others.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and in a globally matrixed team environment.
