7:00 - 9:00 pm
$120/hour
The Bishop Strachan School (‘BSS’) has been a leader in girls’ education since 1867. We teach them to find purpose, feel confident, and speak with a strong, independent voice.
Boarding at BSS is a unique opportunity for girls to grow and learn in a new environment. We welcome students from Grades 8 to 12 into the Boarding program. They live right on campus, with easy access to all school facilities.
We are looking for a Boarding Tutor to support our Boarders in Math and Science from Grade 8 to 12. The successful candidate will be able to tutor our Boarders in all Science and Math subject areas. The tutor program is drop in for any Boarders who might need extra help on that day.
The tutor will support students from our Learning Commons (Library) and be readily available for all Boarders should they need extra help.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Education Degree or in the process of obtaining
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (Intermediate and Senior Divisions) preferred
- A relevant undergraduate degree in Math or Science
- Experience teaching/tutoring Math or Science at a Grade 8 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Knowledge of the current grade 8-12 Math and Science curriculum
- Ability to effectively instruct and engage students with clear communication and interpersonal skills
- Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness, as well as a readiness to accept and respect others
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment for your students and your colleagues
