Position Summary Are you a practical nurse looking for a new opportunity? Look no further than Quinte Health's offsite location, the Transitional Care Unit (TCU). Our 24-bed facility prides itself on providing exceptional care to our patients in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As a practical nurse within the TCU, you'll be responsible for providing direct patient care, collaborating with nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring that each patient's needs are met to the best of your ability. You will have a chance to make a real difference in the lives of the individuals you provide transitional care to, helping them navigate the challenges that come with aging and illness.

Required

  • Diploma or degree in Practical Nursing.
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility to register.
  • Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Duties

  • Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
  • Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
  • Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
  • Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
  • Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
  • Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annul training and education as indicated.
  • Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adheres to health and safety related policy and procedures.
  • Adapts and adheres to the values of QHC while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Belleville General Hospital (BGH) sits on the shore of the stunning Bay of Quinte. The City of Belleville features a mix of small-town charm and big-city amenities. Belleville General Hospital is the largest of Quinte Health’s hospitals, with two medicine units, critical care (ICU), a lively emergency department, a wide range of surgical and diagnostic services, a busy maternal child unit, a children’s treatment centre, inpatient and outpatient stroke and rehabilitation care, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and the regional Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic. BGH works closely with the other three Quinte Health hospital teams, as well as regional and provincial health centres to serve our communities.
