About the role
Convergint is currently looking for a BIM Technician to join our amazing culture in our Calgary location. As a BIM Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the design and development of building electrical systems— including power, lighting, fire alarm, ICT, and security—across a variety of sectors. You will create and maintain detailed models and drawings using BIM, Revit, and CAD while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and integrated design solutions.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
- Actively participate in the design of building (Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm, ICT and security) electrical systems for projects in the mission critical, institutional, transit, food and beverage, industrial and commercial sectors as an integral member of the electrical design team.
- Create, develop and maintain project design models and drawings using latest BIM/Revit/CAD techniques in accordance with established standards and design principals.
- Coordinate electrical designs, models and drawings packages with other engineering/ architectural disciplines as part of the complete design solutions.
- Identify discrepancies in models, drawings and information and resolve through appropriate methods and channels.
- Review models, drawings, and information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Perform changes, additions and/or revisions as required.
- Participate in the tendering and construction phases of the project as required to support the consultants role on the project.
- Perform field reviews to support the design phase and verification of construction during project execution.
- Stay updated with current trends in building modeling and mentor young designers on best practices in building modeling.
What You’ll Need
- Relevant experience working on electrical building projects with specific experience in design and modeling/drawing development for building power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications and security.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data.
- General interest in construction and, in particular, in electrical and mechanical systems.
Demonstrated effectiveness working in a multi-discipline team.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in CAD, REVIT, BIM and Navisworks operation and design working on buildings projects
