About the role

Job Description Wood is recruiting for a Intermediate Pipeline Engineer to join its Projects Canada business. This opportunity is hybrid, based in Calgary, AB

The Role This position will focus on engineering support for above-ground pipelines within the oil and gas sector. The Senior Pipeline Engineer will provide technical expertise, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role includes pipeline design, material selection, cost optimization, and technical leadership to support major projects in Canada’s oil sands.

Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide input to pipeline documents and drawings
  • Perform pipeline design calculations, including wall thickness and hydrotest.
  • Prepare pipeline design reports, and material selection
  • Contribute to engineering specifications, standards, and procedures
  • Complete Material Take Offs (MTOs) and prepare associated Material Requisitions
  • Preparation of Construction Work Packages (CWPs)
  • Coordinate procurement bids and conduct technical bid evaluations
  • Identify optimization and operating cost reduction opportunities
  • Ensure construction and field modifications comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Provide technical guidance on project designs, cost estimates, and economic justifications
  • Support short- and long-term engineering planning and innovation initiatives

Qualifications Expected:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Pipeline Engineering preferred)
  • 5-10 years of experience with above-ground pipelines
  • Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer
  • Familiarity with engineering standards relevant to the Oil & Gas pipeline industry, including CSA, ASME, API, and Alberta Pipeline Rules
  • Recent Western Canadian pipeline experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment while collaborating with various disciplines
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and work independently
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills in English
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid (office and home) environment
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
