Job Details

Khalsa School Newton is looking for Humanities subject (Language Arts and Social studies) teachers for Grade 5 and 6.

This teaching position is for a classroom full of inquisitive learners and a highly supportive teaching environment within the classroom! We are an IB MYP authorized school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities.

Position 1: Grade 5 Humanities Subject (Language Arts and Social studies) (co- teacher)

Position 2: Grade 6 Humanities subject (Language Arts and Social studies) (co- teacher)

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Education (anywhere from within Canada), and must be aware of and able to plan according to BC's curriculum. You must be eligible to be employed in Canada. Priority will be given to applicants who are certified to teach in British Columbia.

Khalsa School is an independent Sikh school in Surrey, British Columbia. Part of the student’s education at our schools includes education in the Sikh Faith (Sikh music, history, scriptures). However, these subjects are taught by our religious department and staff. Successful applicants will only be required to teach the BC Curriculum.

Salary: Starting salary for a BC or Canadian certified teacher is $6600/month (Teachers who are subject restricted do not start on this scale).

Educational requirements: Bachelor of Education –Successful candidates must have the appropriate certification level, have qualifications and meet requirements to work in Canada and teach in BC. If you are certified to teach in another province, you will be considered - granted you apply for BC certification.

Canadian teaching experience is recognized and will increase the starting pay.
