About the OpportunityOur client is a well-established accounting practice specializing in Canadian personal and corporate tax services located in North York. Due to continued growth and an upcoming retirement within the team, we are seeking an experienced Canadian Tax Manager to join the firm.
This is a hands-on review role for an experienced tax professional who can immediately contribute by reviewing work, mentoring staff, and helping manage growing client volumes. The successful candidate will work directly with the firm's owner and play a key role in supporting the firm's Canadian tax practice.
Key Responsibilities
Review Canadian personal tax returns (T1) Review Canadian corporate tax returns (T2) Review financial statements and compilation engagements Review tax returns and working papers prepared by junior staff Provide technical guidance and support to preparers and junior reviewers Assist with managing workflow and ensuring timely completion of tax engagements Help reduce partner workload by handling technical reviews and client-related inquiries Participate in quality control and compliance processes Support the continued growth of the firm's Canadian tax practice Identify tax planning opportunities and provide practical recommendations to clients

Strong experience in Canadian taxation Experience reviewing personal and corporate tax returns Extensive knowledge of Canadian corporate tax (T2) returns Experience reviewing financial statements and compilation engagements Strong technical tax knowledge, including owner-managed businesses and private corporations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
CPA designation or equivalent experience Experience supervising or mentoring staff Experience working in a public accounting firm environment Familiarity with cloud-based tax preparation and accounting software Knowledge of tax planning strategies for individuals and private corporations
Technology

Cloud-based tax preparation software CCH tax solutions QuickBooks Secure client portal systems
