Frontage is a global Contract Research Company (CRO) with the head office located in Exton, Pennsylvania, USA. Frontage has 25 sites across USA, Canada, China and Italy. The Canadian operations include two sites – one located in Vancouver and the other based in Toronto. Frontage Vancouver (formerly BRI) has been in operation for more than 25 years with service offerings in regulated and non-regulated bioanalytical (various platforms including LC/MS/MS and MSD for small and large molecules analyses), In-vitro / In-vivo Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics and pharmacology. The Frontage Vancouver operation is projected to grow significantly in the next few years, especially to meet the demands of biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the Pacific Northwest region. Our facility is accredited by AAALAC and conforms to GLP standards.
This position requires teamwork and excellent oral, written communication, and strong leadership skills.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Requires post-secondary diploma in animal health technology or a B.Sc in animal science plus at least 7 years experience working hands on in an animal facility, and/or equivalent combination of training and experience
- CALAS certification (RLAT) required
- Ability to perform skilled technical duties but not limited to animal handling, restraint, manipulations (SQ, PO, IV, IP) and minor surgeries in rodents.
- Experience with xenograft studies is an asset
- Exceptional CCAC and AAALAC compliance knowledge
- Experience in pharmaceutical contract research and GLP compliance knowledge is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, organization and leadership abilities.
- Competent and self-motivated individual able to work independently
- Excellent logical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Work will include extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice
- Ability to work under specific time constraints
- Experience in pharmaceutical contract research and GLP compliance knowledge will be an asset but not essential
- Ability to train, supervise, and coach junior team members
Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain Animal Use Protocols (AUP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the facility to ensure it meets AAALAC and GLP standards
- Maintain an in-house Animal Care Committee (ACC)
- Schedule and perform in-vivo DMPK and efficacy studies in rodents
- Supervise, train, and mentor animal technicians
- Set up new techniques and animal models
- Host AAALAC assessment visit and respond to recommendations in a timely manner
- Work with the management to take corrective actions where necessary and initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity
- Provide input to management to improve operations efficiency
- Follow Frontage quality assurance policies and procedures as well as those prescribed under the US FDA and Health Canada HPFB regulations
