About the role

KLS Earthworks & Environmental is hiring a Project Manager. We are looking for a professional who is enthusiastic and safety conscious to work full time in Calgary. Reporting to the Operations Manager the Project Manager is responsible for preparing preliminary estimates for underground projects. This role is ideally suited for a flexible individual with 5+ years of relevant estimating skills and experience. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take on a broad range of Project Management tasks will bring considerable value.

Responsibilities:

  • Setup & start projects; including coordination with building departments, government regulatory bodies, engineers, architects & other consultants
  • Manage closeout of projects; ensuring completion & resolution of any outstanding construction or client issues
  • Create, manage & maintain job schedules
  • Liaison with clients, sub trades & suppliers for scheduling, coordination & pricing
  • Review of estimate & job cost
  • Assist with the evaluation of sub-trade pricing & negotiable sub-contract price
  • Investigate potential high-risk situations, provide solutions to the best interest of the project and company
  • Ensure all team members have read & understand project objectives; including project specifications/ agreements & head contract requirements
  • Develop cost saving methods
  • Establish & monitor construction work schedules including "look ahead" schedules
  • Lead handover meetings of newly assigned projects

Qualifications:

  • Experience in acquiring City of Calgary permits & indemnifications is an asset
  • Experience in temporary shutdown & public notifications would be an asset
  • Estimating indemnified projects
  • Estimating both Lump Sum & Unit Rate Projects
  • 5+ years with direct experience working with Earthworks & Underground Utilities
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and ensure work prioritization to achieve them
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills with multiple levels of ownership
  • Ability to work long hours with some weekends & over time as required
  • Knowledge of Heavy Bid, Heavy Job & Vista Viewpoint are an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Strong attention to detail
