TRIUMF's Procurement department is looking to hire a Procurement Manager to join their team.
The Procurement Manager oversees the Procurement team within the Supply Chain function of TRIUMF. Primary responsibilities encompass team management, mentorship, enhancing procurement efficiency to minimize turnaround times, streamlining work processes for cost-effectiveness, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to all stakeholders, including internal departments and external suppliers.
Responsibilities Team Management
- Lead a team of Procurement Specialists, establish team performance metrics, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment to ensure high team morale and productivity.
- Manage conflict resolution within the team and with internal stakeholders by maintaining a positive, problem-solving mindset.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and work with the team to adjust course to deliver quality service.
- Recruit, direct and develop co-op students to support Procurement routine operations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with the lab users to share procurement best practices and methods to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to meet new supply chain compliance requirements.
- Advise and guide end-users in purchasing decisions.
- Engage and coordinate with the partnership organizations for enhancing procurement services.
- Work closely with the Finance team.
Supply Chain Compliance
- Establish procurement standards, methods, controls, and best practices across TRIUMF.
- Lead the implementation of supply chain procedures to support TRIUMF’s Supply Chain policy, procedures, and processes.
- Lead competitive bidding (RFx) processes.
- Manage process change for driving improvement.
Supplier Management
- Research and qualify suppliers.
- Engage with the suppliers to verify their qualifications.
- Identify and mitigate Supply Chain Risks, such as but not limited to: sustainability, supplier performance, global trade risks and etc.
- Examine the price, suitability, and availability of items or services.
- Compare specifications and review alternatives to fulfill TRIUMF objectives.
- Lead contract review, negotiations and administration with suppliers
- Resolve problems and complaints.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED The Procurement Manager provides direct supervision to procurement specialists and assistants, including responsibility for performance planning and review, workload assignment, training, and professional development. The incumbent also provides technical oversight and guidance to other TRIUMF staff involved in purchasing or contract-related activities, ensuring adherence to procurement standards and best practices.
Knowledge And Skills
- Competence to lead, motivate, and communicate with a diverse team of professionals, promoting an environment of collaboration and mutual respect.
- Ability to address conflicts constructively, make informed decisions under pressure, and guide the team through complex procurement challenges.
- In-depth knowledge of supplier evaluation, qualification, and relationship management processes.
- An understanding of the Supply Chain Management processes.
- Experience in Global Supply Chain Risks Management is preferred.
- A thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of central procurement.
- Understanding of contract administration.
- Must be resourceful in meeting compliance challenges.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, comprehension, interpretation, grammatical, oral, and written communications skills are extremely important, as are planning and organizing.
- Demonstrated experience working with ERP software used in managing core business processes for procurement – Workday knowledge is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Good numerical reasoning and aptitude for figures; accuracy; attention to detail; and the ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities.
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications And Years Of Experience
- A Bachelor university degree or equivalent. A Master’s degree would be an asset.
- A least 5 years of procurement, supply chain, or supplier relationship management experience.
- Several years of supervisory experience to a team of two or more direct reports.
- CSCP / SCMP or equivalent supply chain certification is desirable.
Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada, either as a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with a work permit valid for at least 18 months after the start date.
Salary : $104,805 CAD plus our comprehensive employer-paid benefits plan
