The ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation (″ʔAFN″) is looking for an IT Service Technician to join our team and provide essential tech support that keeps our administration connected, efficient, and secure. As our IT Service Technician, you’ll be the first line of support for AFN staff, ensuring they have the tools and technology they need to succeed. This position reports to the Director of Core Services and works closely with Ktunaxa Nation Council IT Services.
ʔakisq̓nuk First Nation (″ʔAFN″) is a member Community of the Ktunaxa Nation. ʔAFN exists for the Community. Externally, we are here to serve the Community, and internally, we are our own Community, comprised of different departments unified by our Vision, Mission, and Values. As a team, through our roles and departments, the ʔAFN Administration works together to achieve our strategic plan and continue to progress and move our community forward.
Note: This position is full-time (35 hours) with a set weekly schedule working onsite at the office.
The primary responsibilities include:
Installation & Set-Up
- Install and configure desktops, laptops, phones, printers, and software.
- Set up tech for meetings, events, and new employees.
- Repair and maintain AFN technology and devices.
Administration & Support
- Configure accounts, emails, and access for staff.
- Track and manage IT inventory.
- Communicate updates, incidents, and changes to colleagues.
- Keep detailed logs and sign-out records.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Diagnose and fix hardware, software, and network issues.
- Run security checks and maintain backups.
- Provide quick solutions to keep operations running without disruption.
Maintenance & Training
- Perform regular system maintenance and preventative care.
- Monitor systems and respond to alerts.
- Provide training on new hardware/software.
- Work with KNC IT Services to ensure smooth workflows and secure systems.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:

Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of IT support or helpdesk experience.

Strong customer services skills when working with employees and external stakeholders.

Experience working with First Nations / Indigenous communities.
-
Knowledge of language, history and culture of the Ktunaxa Nation is an asset.

Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
-
Experience with technology installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Ability to manage system alerts and prioritize tasks effectively.

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
-
Strong communication skills and a commitment to confidentiality.

NOTE: A criminal check will be conducted on the successful applicant
What we offer:

Competitive pay ($60,000-$70,000 per year, depending on education and experience)

Discretionary office closure between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, as determined by the Council each year
