Temporary Full Time
Salary Range: $35.93 - $41.37 /hour
This is a temporary full-time position expected to extend until January 30, 2027, subject to the availability of work.
Flexibility is required to be available for days, weekend and evening hours in order to meet resident needs.
Using the principles of resident focused care within an interdisciplinary team approach, the successful candidate will provide and support care that will assist residents in meeting their evident and anticipated leisure and recreation needs, promote health and to enhance well-being and quality of life.
The successful candidate will support a team of Therapeutic Recreation Aides (TRAs) by providing teaching, coaching and overseeing their roles. They will ensure all LTC legislation for Therapeutic Recreation is being met through the development, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic recreation programs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside Volunteer Services, for the assignment of volunteers across therapeutic programs of Mount Hope. The successful candidate will continue to develop community partnerships, including the St. Joseph?s Health Care Foundation, to enhance the residents experience.
Essential Qualifications
- University Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic Recreation focus or University Degree in Human Sciences or Services with a Post Graduate Diploma/ certificate in Therapeutic Recreation
- Current membership with Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (TRO)
- Class F License or ability to obtain within the probationary period
- Food Handler Certification, obtained within the last year
- Smart Serve certification
- A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, and implement a personalized approach to service delivery within the guidelines of the Therapeutic Recreation Service Delivery Model in accordance with TRO standards of practice
- Knowledge of the Leisure Wellbeing Model
- Knowledge of Point Click Care and Activity Pro
- Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team member
- Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates ability to work with a variety of residents? strengths and abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in French would be an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a therapeutic recreation professional
- Minimum two years' experience in a Long-term Care setting
- Candidate has their designation with TRO (R/TRO)

Immunization Requirements
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
