About the role

Corporate Accountant

We are in search for an experienced and highly competent Corporate Accountant to join our growing accounting team! This role will be based out of our Downtown Vancouver Office. This individual will report directly to the Director, Corporate Accounting and have frequent interactions with the senior corporate accountant, senior project accountants, and various department leads. The Corporate Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting the senior corporate accounting in managing the activities of Marcon’s corporate entities to ensure timely reporting and sound financial management.

About The Role

  • Manage the month-end processes including preparing and posting recurring and non-recurring journal entries and bank reconciliations for the corporate entities
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, subledger schedules, fixed asset schedules, and intercompany account reconciliations
  • File provincial and federal reports including GST and PST and assist with audits
  • Coordinate and process transactions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany recoveries, credit card reconciliations, employee expense reconciliations, and payment processing
  • Oversee corporate revenue streams including project fee revenues and cost recoveries to ensure timely billing and receipts
  • Support in establishing a legal entity start-up kit including initiating new bank accounts, legal entity documentation, GST registration, and CRA online portal access
  • Compile annual regulatory filings such as Empty Home Tax, Speculation & Vacancy Tax, and Statistics Canada
  • Assist with corporate and project entities’ year-end engagements, working papers, and audit request items. Liaise with the auditors and track progress of year-end engagements to ensure timely completion
  • Support with year-end tax filings and issuance of tax slips to investment partners
  • Facilitate corporate entity advances, project funding, investor equity cash calls and distributions, and other various treasury functions
  • Maintain up to date partners’ equity schedules for all corporate investments in various projects
  • Review corporate and project budget submissions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards. Support department staff with resolving budget discrepancies or coding errors. Assist with uploading approved budgets and budget revisions into the financial accounting system
  • Assist development accountants with preparation of lender loan draw packages for development projects

About You

  • Three years of experience in real estate corporate accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and practices
  • Experience in Yardi is strongly desired
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting deadlines
  • Critical thinking and ability to prioritize tasks and/or strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving ability
  • Outstanding ability to multi-task and attention to detail are vital
  • Confirmed ability to work collaboratively and communicate well with a variety of colleagues
  • Ability to work in in complex spreadsheets and interpret large volumes of business data
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal/written) skills with the ability to communicate professionally to all levels of the business
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite

The compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
