As a Business Consultant, you will act as the requirements management lead for large-sized projects (Waterfall, Agile, or Iterative), engaging your business partners to help clarify and formalize project’s goals, objectives, and scope. You will consult with the business to help define the need for new and/or enhanced products, services, or optimized business processes, and provide advice on the functionality, applicability, and usability of technology solutions to support business requirements. The Business Consultant reviews enhancements from a business architecture perspective to ensure optimal implementation both from a business process and a technology perspective to ensure long-term scalability.

Expertise in Requirements Development and Analysis:
- Demonstrated ability to work on projects and programs with high complexity
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated use of various elicitation techniques
- Expert ability to document requirements in the format applicable to the project (requirements documents, user stories)
- Expert ability to convey complex concepts visually that is appropriate to your audience
- Evaluate and negotiate requirements and ensures approach aligns to the strategic vision
- Evaluate information for impacts that go beyond obvious solution options (scope, solution design, downstream systems, and other projects)
- Able to coach and mentor other BAs in the development of requirements documentation
Excellent Planning and Time Management Skills:
- Able to create and execute requirements management strategies and plans for projects with high complexity and ambiguity
- Expert ability to create accurate estimates for milestones and deliverables on complex projects
- Expert ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Ability to lead other BAs in requirements management planning and time management practices
Advanced Leadership, Consulting, and Relationship Management:
- Demonstrated ability to recommend requirement development methods and techniques that meet the needs of the project
- Applies leadership through business analysis, acts as an agent of change, and shares accountability for the project outcomes
- Ability to manage scope and negotiate requirements on complex projects and programs with a high degree of ambiguity
- Build and maintain productive relationships with project team and external stakeholders, working well in a team environment and managing conflict even in challenging situations
Excellent Communication Skills:
- Ability to distill complex information and communicate in a way that is tailored to the needs of the audience
- Can traverse between detailed and high-level information, understand when each is appropriate and bring information to the level of detail needed for specific situations
- Expert ability to facilitate sessions with large groups and lead meetings effectively, including with external vendors
Strong Foundation of Business, Technical and Domain Knowledge:
- Ability to understand business objectives, define the business problem, and align solutions to reflect the needs of our customers in a complex business environment, including across geographies (e.g., Canada-US)
- Ability to assess and evaluate complex technical solutions from a business perspective with an understanding of data structures, data concepts, and data analytics
- Demonstrates ability to think like a customer and impact of technology changes to end users
- Ability to build domain knowledge through independent learning and research skills
Additional Qualifications:
- Possesses a university degree/college diploma in a relevant discipline
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience as a Senior Business Analyst/Business Consultant within a financial institution
- Strong business knowledge of the Finance/Banking industry
- Advanced knowledge of SDLC methodologies: agile, scrum, Kanban iterative, waterfall
- Excellent MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Outlook, Visio)
- Experience with business assessment tools (e.g., feasibility studies, business cases and/or cost/benefit, project sizing and costing, and current state analysis/needs assessments)
- Knowledge of Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence would be an asset
- Knowledge of banking systems including: Online and mobile banking systems, Branch/ Back office systems, CRMs such as Optimizer, Salesforce.com, Contact Centre systems such as Nuance, Genesys, Verint, Aspect, etc., would be an asset
Salary : $75,900.00 - $141,900.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
