WHO YOU ARE:
The Fabrication Manager is a strategic and results-driven leader with strong organizational and technical skills. This individual demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain clear communication across departments, and ensure accuracy in all planning and production activities. The Fabrication Manager leads with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency, fostering collaboration among teams to meet project timelines and performance goals.
A deep understanding of fabrication processes, resource management, and continuous improvement principles is essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, drives operational excellence, and supports the overall objectives of the construction and manufacturing teams.

What We’re Looking For From You – If this describes you, we’d love to meet!

A strong leader with hands-on experience in fabrication or manufacturing environments
-
Deep technical expertise in welding as a Subject Matter Expert (welder, welding technologist, or similar).
-
Proven experience managing technical, fabrication, or production teams.
-
Strong background in Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies
-
Self-starter who takes initiative, develops solutions, and drives projects to completion.
-
Welding or pipefitting tickets are an asset but not required.
-
5+ years in high-volume fabrication or manufacturing; 3+ years in a leadership role.
-
Familiarity with OH&S standards, and LEM (Labour, Equipment, Materials) reporting/scheduling tools.
Duties include:
- Supervise fabrication and welding operations, ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery of projects.
- Plan and optimize manpower, bay layouts, and equipment use
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve weld quality.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build skills and ensure adherence to procedures
- Conduct safety and quality checks to maintain compliance with company standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with Quality, Drafting, Materials, and Project teams to resolve issues and streamline workflows.
- Monitor production metrics and implement corrective actions to meet departmental targets.

With capabilities for both small and large scale projects across western Canada, we can complete major projects in compressed timeframes by prefabricating in our Calgary, Hinton and Fort St. John facilities with a combined total of 135,000 sq ft. of shop space. Alstar has a well developed project services team with project controls, project management and estimating to support your project from start to finish.
