Position Summary
As a Speech Language Pathology Consultant, you will be a vital member of the Specialized Learning Supports school-linked team. In this trans-disciplinary role, you will provide consultation and collaborative support to school staff, students, and families. Your work will focus on enhancing the educational experience and communicative success of K–12 students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they have the specialized strategies required to thrive in the classroom and beyond.
Job Duties/Responsibilities

provide comprehensive consultative services to schools and families for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 experiencing speech and/or language challenges
-
conduct interventions and assessments to identify student needs and monitor progress within the educational environment
-
develop and recommend communication strategies and specialized programming for students with complex learning needs through collaborative partnerships
-
offer subject matter expertise to the learning team in the areas of receptive and expressive language, literacy, social communication, speech sound production, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
-
train, coach and mentor educational assistants and speech language assistants in the implementation of targeted communication strategies
-
collaborate with teachers and professionals to demonstrate and model adaptations and modifications to the curriculum that support student communication
-
lead discussions and modeling sessions to ensure school staff are equipped to support diverse learners in a transdisciplinary environment
Education/Qualifications
-
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
-
registered with Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists
-
minimum of three years related experience in classroom-based service delivery to children and youth
-
excellent communication, collaboration and consultative skills
-
experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Rate of Pay
$52.52 - $67.17 per hour
