Position Summary
Total Oilfield Rentals is currently looking for a Journeyman Picker Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Branch Manager, then Journeyman Picker Operator, responsible for ensuring lifts are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
This is a full-time position based out of our Leduc branch, with work performed primarily in Fort McMurray.
Time Commitment
This role is subject to Federal Hours of Service regulations. You may be required from time to time to work outside these hours as the need arises and is subject to manager approval. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.
Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)
- Operate a picker truck to safely lift, transport, and place materials and equipment.
- Perform daily pre-trip, post-trip, and crane inspections.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues.
- Calculate load weights and determine crane capacities and load charts.
- Inspect rigging equipment, slings, shackles, and lifting accessories before use.
- Secure loads in accordance with transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with riggers, signalers, supervisors, and other crew members.
- Set up the truck safely, including deploying outriggers and assessing ground conditions.
- Complete required documentation, including inspection reports, logbooks, and lift records.
- Follow company safety policies, provincial regulations, and applicable lifting standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and general labor duties when crane operations are not required.
Required Competencies
- A valid Class 1 license and acceptable driver’s abstract
- Journeyman Picker Operator Certification
- 3+ years experience in general oilfield hauling
- A commitment to safe work practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment as well as on-going pre-access drug and alcohol tests
- Strong customer service skills
- Desire in working as part of a team
Working Conditions
- Willing to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions with heavy equipment.
