Position Summary :
The H uman R esources Data & Systems Co‑op Student will support project‑based work within the People & Culture Experience (PCE) team, contributing to initiatives focused on improving the quality, consistency, and documentation of HR data.
This role will support the review and documentation of HR data elements, assist with organizing and validating data used across projects, and help ensure information is clearly defined and ready for use in future system reporting and analysis. The student will work closely with project leads and subject matter experts, contributing to structured project work while gaining exposure to how HR data is managed and maintained in a complex organization.
Responsibilities:

Support the completion of the HR data dictionary by documenting clear, plain‑language definitions for HR data fields (e.g., employee status, employment type, position status).

Compare how the same data elements are defined and used across different HR systems and data sources.
-
Document inconsistencies, assumptions, and outstanding questions for follow‑up and clarification.
-
Update documentation based on feedback and confirmed definitions.
-
Review spreadsheets and system extracts to identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear values.
-
Flag potential data quality issues (e.g., values that don’t align, unclear status meanings).
-
Support basic data validation and clean‑up activities under guidance, using established formats and instructions.
-
Maintain logs or trackers to ensure work is organized and traceable.
-
Use checklists, to‑do lists, and follow‑up logs to manage multiple small tasks and deadlines.
-
Prepare simple summaries or reference materials to support discussions with HR, Payroll, or system stakeholders.
-
Escalate questions or uncertainty rather than making assumptions when data or direction is unclear.
Position R e quirements :
-
Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program (college or university) in Business, Health Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.

Strong attention to detail and comfort working with spreadsheets.
-
Ability to stay organized when managing multiple tasks or datasets.
-
Willingness to ask clarifying questions and seek guidance when unsure.
-
Clear written communication skills and comfort documenting information accurately.
Preferred Requirements:

Experience using Microsoft Excel , PowerBI and other SQL based reporting tools.

Experience with HRIS, payroll and other related systems an asset.
-
Interest in data, systems, or process improvement.
-
Previous co‑op, internship, or academic project experience involving data, documentation, or analysis.
