Edmonton Catholic Schools is pleased to offer select Educational Assistant candidates the opportunity to join our Educational Assistant – Internship Pathway, a supported entry experience designed to help new and aspiring EAs begin their work with confidence, skill, and a strong understanding of inclusive practice.
This pathway provides participants with targeted professional development before entering the classroom, combining high‑quality learning modules with in‑person training facilitated by experienced ECSD staff. The goal is to ensure Educational Assistants are better prepared on day one, while building a strong foundation for ongoing growth and success in our schools.
What This Opportunity Offers

3 paid professional learning/ training days prior to classroom placement

Access to foundational internship learning modules that support early skill development specifically tailored to Edmonton Catholic School Division

In‑person training led by experienced ECSD staff, focused on:
- Diverse Learners
- Students with Complex Behavioral Needs
- Supporting students in communication needs
- Students Learning English as an Additional Language

A supported transition into school‑based work immediately following training

The opportunity to grow within a collaborative, mission‑driven Catholic school community
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher with planning, preparing, and implementing programs to meet student needs
- Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment, and programs
- Assist the multi-disciplinary team with the implementation of developmental strategies
- Behaviour management
- Provide a range of personal and physical care
- Assist co-workers during peak periods and absences
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children is considered an asset
- Current resume
- 3 professional references
- A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- A current Child Intervention Record Check
- Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton
