Electrical Engineer Full-Time, Permanent North Bay, Ontario Hybrid (4 days a week in the office)

SUPPA ENGINEERING Suppa Engineering is a Mechanical, Electrical and Structural engineering firm, with offices in North Bay, Sudbury and Orillia, Ontario, providing building systems engineering to public and private sector clients.

THE POSITION Suppa Engineering is seeking an Electrical Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team to work full-time in our North Bay Office.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario with experience in building services engineering, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm and life safety systems, emergency power systems, and communications infrastructure.

As part of the Electrical team, you will be responsible for managing projects through all phases of delivery, from proposal development and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction administration, and project closeout.

This position offers an opportunity to lead multidisciplinary projects, mentor junior staff, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of Suppa Engineering. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Engineering Design and Technical Leadership Provide cost-effective and energy-efficient design of Power Distribution, Lighting, Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems, Emergency Power and Communication Systems for industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential projects. Perform electrical load calculations, engineering studies, and code reviews. Design electrical distribution systems, including utility coordination, site services, transformers, generators, panelboards, and distribution equipment. Complete interior and exterior lighting designs, including fixture selection, lighting calculations, controls, and energy compliance requirements. Design emergency and standby power systems, including generators and UPS systems. Design fire alarm, emergency lighting, exiting, and other life safety systems. Design communications, security, and access control systems. Prepare, review and seal engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and contract documents. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, contractors, utilities, and clients throughout project delivery. Maintain compliance with applicable codes, standards, and professional practice requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and project delivery processes. Travel to project sites and client meetings throughout Ontario as required. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, technologists, and designers.

Project Management Manage multiple projects simultaneously from initiation through construction completion. Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, fee proposals, and work plans. Monitor project performance and profitability while ensuring successful project delivery. Lead project meetings and maintain communication with clients, contractors, architects, and project stakeholders. Coordinate internal resources and multidisciplinary project teams. Support business development initiatives, proposal preparation, and client relationship management.

Construction Contract Administration Execute contract administration duties, including tender preparation, bid review, and contractor coordination. Conduct site inspections and prepare field review reports. Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and contractor submissions. Assist clients and contractors in resolving construction-related issues. Ensure construction is progressing in accordance with contract documents and engineering intent.

QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensure. Experience in consulting engineering, building services engineering, construction, and project management. Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-residential buildings. Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, CSA Standards, and related industry requirements. Experience with contract administration and construction review services.

Required Skills Strong project management and organizational abilities. Excellent client communication and relationship management skills. Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit is considered an asset. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel.
