About the role

The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) positive individual committed to providing exemplary customer service to assume the position of Routine Disclosure Clerk within the Information and Privacy Unit.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Working knowledge of the Access to Information Act (ATIA)
  • Accurately processing requests for police files by defining the complexity, clarity and scope of the request in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  • Conducts searches for responsive records using various databases (NicheUA, JOIN, CPIC)
  • Responds to inquiries from citizens, third parties and other internal and external stakeholders as an access to information applicant
  • Determining what information will be withheld and what information will be released through the application of EPS policy and procedures
  • Providing excellent customer service to applicants.
  • Collecting and processing fees.
  • Performing general office duties including collecting and distributing mail in addition to other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic computer applications.
  • Knowledge of the ATIA
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and customer service skills. Previous customer relations experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with City of Edmonton cash handling procedures would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in CPIC, JOIN and NicheUA would be considered an asset.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Applicants may be tested.

Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, 8 hours per day. Work shift is 0700hrs to 1530 or 0800hrs to 1630 Monday to Friday.

Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 007, $24.441 - $30.346 (Hourly), $1,959.30 - $2,427.70 (Bi-Weekly), $ 51,032.81- $ 63,362.45 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
