About the role

Position Summary:

South Country Co-op is hiring a motivated and customer-focused Temporary-Pharmacy Cashier at our Northlands Pharmacy in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Temporary-Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while supporting daily pharmacy operations. This role includes operating the cash register, processing transactions, assisting customers and pharmacy staff, ensuring prescriptions are provided to the correct patient, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the department .

This position is well-suited for individuals who are highly organized, customer-focused, and capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality customer service to all pharmacy patients and guest
  • Operate cash register and process payments accurately
  • Ensure prescriptions are released to the correct patient following proper procedures
  • Assist pharmacy staff with general support duties as required
  • Merchandise and display products within the pharmacy area
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and high professional standards
  • Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age and completed Grade 9
  • Previous cashier or retail experience is an asset
  • Basic computer knowledge, POS knowledge, and familiarity with electronic equipment such as cash register, scanner, money counters, etc.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Able to respond effectively in a dynamic and changing environment
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn

Work Schedule:

This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
