Corporate Accountant
Permanent Full-time
We’re looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our team! This position plays a critical role within our Corporate Accounting team, supporting the integrity, evolution, and modernization of our accounting practices. The Corporate Accountant works on complex accounting matters, supports organizational and regulatory change, and contributes to enterprise-wide projects focused on digitalization, governance, and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support complex accounting matters , including the interpretation and application of accounting standards, policy development, and technical accounting assessments.
- Support organizational changes such as structural, system, regulatory, or operational changes by assessing accounting impacts and ensuring appropriate treatment and documentation.
- Contribute to and lead finance-related projects , including digitalization initiatives, system implementations, process improvements, and data modernization efforts.
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure alignment with governance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
- Prepare and deliver reports, and schedules for management, audit, and regulatory purposes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support enterprise initiatives, change management efforts, and continuous improvement.
- Support governance and compliance activities, including adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks .
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and data quality through the use of digital tools and accounting technologies.
- Act as a subject matter expert for accounting-related inquiries, providing guidance and recommendations grounded in best practices and professional standards.
Qualifications
- University degree (Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent) and/or a professional accounting designation- CPA or working toward CPA.
- 5 or more years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a financial institution or similarly regulated environment (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards , governance principles, and internal control frameworks.
- Experience supporting or leading projects , system implementations, process redesign, or organizational change initiatives.
- High level of comfort with digital tools and data-driven environments , including advanced Excel; experience with accounting systems, reporting tools, Power BI, or automation solutions is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex, evolving accounting issues.
- Detail-oriented, risk-aware, and committed to safeguarding the organization’s financial integrity and reputation.
- Demonstrated digital literacy, including critical thinking, adaptability, and effective use of technology to improve outcomes.
