**POSITION:**TEMPORARY FRENCH IMMERSION EDUCATION ASSISTANT FOR MERRITT
5.5 hours per day / 2 Days a week
EFFECTIVE: Immediately - June 26, 2026
SHIFT:Schooldays****only – exact dayandtimeofthehourstobedeterminedbytheSALARY:**Administrator Starting wage is $32.40 **perhour.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**As per Job Description, plus:
EA Certification
POPARD 5 Day – Autism training
POPFASD
PBS – Positive Behaving Support
CPI -Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention
Responsibilities:
- The Education Assistant will be primarily responsible for providing support to students and the teacher in French immersion classes with a strong emphasis on French language proficiency. The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Offering language support to students by communicating in French, thereby facilitating language acquisition and comprehension.
- Assisting the teacher in classroom activities, such as language instruction, and facilitating an immersion learning environment.
- Providing support for students with various language abilities, including those who may need extra help in understanding and using French effectively.
- Collaborating with the teacher to adapt instructional materials to meet the linguistic needs of the students.
- Creating an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages students to actively engage in French language learning.
- Assisting with classroom management, which may involve behavior support, social-emotional self-regulation, and ensuring a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Demonstrating a commitment to the effective integration of technology in the teaching and learning process, including supporting students with their technological needs.
- Upholding a strong commitment to promoting language proficiency and multiculturalism within the educational setting.
