About the role
The Department of English invites applications for the position ofSessional Instructorto teach one (1) section of English 2120 (Creative Writing I) in theFall Semester of the 2026-27 academic year. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.
ENGLISH 2120 - CREATIVE WRITING I
This workshop in creative writing provides students with the opportunity to develop their proficiency in writing fiction, poetry, drama, or creative non-fiction. Students produce and revise new material and present these manuscripts to the workshop. Class time is devoted to discussion of students’ manuscripts and published texts and to strategies and structures involved in writing them.
**PREREQUISITE:**At least one 1000-level English course, submission of a portfolio (e.g., 5-10 pages of poetry, 10-20 pages of fiction or scriptwriting, or 10-20 pages of creative non-fiction), and permission of the instructor.
Three hours a week.
Qualifications:
Applicants for this position should have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and a strong publishing record of poetry and/or fiction in professionally recognized publications. Applicants should possess experience in teaching creative writing and in leading creative writing workshops. Applicants should possess the ability to evaluate and edit student writing. The ability to mentor emerging writers will be considered an asset.
