About the role

Reporting to the Financial Director and working closely with the CFO and the Controller, the Financial Analyst acts as a business partner for operations. More than a reporting role, the incumbent is actively involved with the operations teams (R&D and Manufacturing) and sales to understand the reality behind the numbers, explain variances, and support operational decision-making. The role includes, among other things, participation in the development of: Financial models and reports to improve budgeting and reporting processes; Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); Continuous improvement initiatives.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary finance contact point for operational managers; proactively approach teams (R&D, Production) to investigate cost issues and validate the reliability of source data;
  • Design and develop financial models and reports to improve budgeting and reporting processes;
  • Analyze manufacturing performance: labor variances, material consumption, factory overheads, and in-depth analysis of cost of goods sold (costing);
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor and evaluate efficiency, profitability, and maximum utilization of resources and time;
  • Ensure financial monitoring of the R&D project portfolio (budget monitoring, eligibility for tax credits/grants, profitability analysis of new products);
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget;
  • Participate in the review of monthly forecasts;
  • Take charge of preparing monthly operational performance reviews;
  • Support other departments with ad hoc analyses.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or equivalent experience;
  • 3 to 5 years of experience;
  • Excellent financial modeling skills in Excel;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Knowledge of Power Query, Access Database, Power BI (an asset), Word, Powerpoint;
  • Basic understanding of inter-company transactions;
  • Understanding of ERPs and production flows;
  • Profitability / project feasibility analysis skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Marked intellectual curiosity and ease of communication with non-financial departments (Engineering, Production);
  • Bilingualism, French and English.
