This is a temporary contract position.
Schedule in Consultation with Supervisor
This position is effective September 2, 2025.
While all applicants will be considered, preference will be given to qualified applicants who self-declare Indigenous ancestry.
The starting annual salary for a school teacher position ranges from $60,000 to $110,000, with placement on the range based on the length of service and qualifications in accordance in accordance with the collective agreement. Positions of Special Responsibility receive an additional pay allowance in accordance with the collective agreement based on the levels 1, 2, or 3.

Primary/Intermediate Teacher
- excellent classroom management skills;
- knowledge of current instruction practices and curriculum
- the ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs
- strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
- recognized degree in elementary education
- current demonstrated ability to teach at the primary level
- training in primary education / intermediate education
- an understanding and appreciation of the importance of First Nations Language & culture
- Demonstrated current knowledge of the subject area, including Big Ideas, curricular competencies, content and appropriate resources
- knowledge of current instructional practices and the ability to adapt curriculum, programs and instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
- demonstrated ability to support students, consult with parents and work collaboratively
- ability to integrate use of technology to support instruction, web-based reporting and communicating with the school community
- interest in contributing to the professional community at the school
- BC Teaching Certificate membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch and eligibility for Teacher Qualification Service card.
- knowledge and experience with assessment for learning in curricular areas and the ability to use assessment tools to guide and develop instruction (eg PM Benchmarks, Island Net Math, Primary Screener, WCRA, FSIM, Performance Standards in Writing, Developmental Spelling Inventory)
- sound knowledge of technologies and their educational application
- experience and skill working with behavioural challenged students
- experience with current literacy practices – including the District WCRA and PM Benchmarks
- Demonstrate current understanding of culturally responsive learning environment and assessment practices
