Data Analyst Thompson-Nicola Regional District
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) would like to acknowledge that we connect with many First Nation communities across our vast regional district. TNRD administrative offices are located on the traditional Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Territory, situated within the unceded ancestral lands of the Secwépemc Nation.

Headquartered in the heart of downtown Kamloops, the TNRD provides a wide range of local government services to the population of 144,000 living within its 11 diverse municipalities and 10 electoral areas.
The Position
The Data Analyst provides analytical and technical support for TNRD data initiatives and plays a key role in migrating from legacy systems to a modern, distributed ERP environment. Working closely with the Strategic Business Services Technical Advisor and Manager, the Data Analyst is responsible for:
- Supporting data migration activities, including data extraction, cleansing, transformation, mapping, and validation from legacy systems into the new ERP.
- Developing and maintaining federated dashboards and operational reports using Power BI, with data sourced from systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, UKG Pro, and others.
- Providing analytical support for strategic initiatives, performance management, and process improvement projects.
- Supporting the development of tools and templates that improve data access and usability across the organization. Assisting with the design and implementation of automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate and related tools to support integration and reduce manual tasks.
- Collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders ERP consultants, IT, and business teams to ensure reporting and data needs are met.
- Assisting with data quality audits, reconciliation processes, and pre/post-migration testing.
- Maintaining data documentation and helping to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
- Documenting data flows, processes, and reports for internal knowledge transfer and sustainability.
- Providing data analysis and ad-hoc reporting support to functional teams during testing and go-live phases. Presenting findings and recommendations to management in clear and actionable formats.
- Defining data requirements, ensuring data integrity, and improving reporting accuracy.
- Supporting business areas in developing key performance indicators and reporting frameworks.
- Ensuring compliance with data governance and security standards.
This full-time (35 hours per week), temporary position is anticipated run until the end of December 2026, and two weeks' notice will be given should the term be extended or shortened. The position is based out of the TNRD Civic Building located in downtown Kamloops but remote or hybrid work may be considered.
Required Education and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Three years’ related experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or systems implementation, ideally in local government or multi-department environments
- Experience in data migration projects including data mapping, reconciliation, testing, and defect tracking.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience working with large datasets and performing data transformations and analysis.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or other workflow automation tools.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience working with Microsoft Excel, SQL queries, and relational data models.
- Ability to manage multiple data sources and ensure consistency across systems.
- Strong understanding of database structures, data modeling, reporting tools and data governance practices.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling data.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills to relate tactfully, effectively, and respectfully to all internal and external contacts, and meet client requirements.
- Ability to communicate technical details to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of implementing successful process enhancements.
- A valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence.
The following qualifications are considered an asset:
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or UKG Pro.
- Familiarity with municipal finance, payroll, or HR data structures.
- Experience supporting data migration projects or ERP implementations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Azure, Dataverse, or SharePoint integrations.
- Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate and/or Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate

This position is subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement with the BC General Employees’ Union, Local 705. The Data Analyst position is a Pay Grid ITN (2025 hourly rate of $40.22/hr-44.56/hr) plus a percentage (18.2%-21.2%) in lieu of benefits.
This position requires a clear Criminal Record Check and the submission of a driver's abstract.
