We are seeking two Animal Control Patrollers to join our Animal Control Program in Chilliwack. We are looking for highly motivated, outgoing and animal-savvy individuals who enjoy engaging with the public. Under the direction of the Animal Welfare and Regulatory Supervisor, you will work as part of a team and be responsible for promoting responsible dog ownership and providing education to dog owners, accepting and processing fees such as for dog licences and preparing documentation and electronic records as needed. The term of this position is from May 1, 2026, to September 1, 2026. The hours of work are 4 hours per day, 5 days per week, scheduled between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Completion of grade 12 and experience in a similar role or an acceptable combination of training and experience;

Good computer skills, preferably with experience in Microsoft Office;

Basic understanding of dogs;

Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all types of weather;

Able to work independently with minimal supervision and work well as part of a team;
-
Excellent communication skills and conflict resolution skills, with ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly and communicate effectively with members of the public and co-workers;

Strong written communication skills which includes the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly; and
-
Must be prepared to work flexible hours which will include evenings and weekends and statutory holidays.
The job rate for this union position is $22.92 per hour plus 18% in lieu of benefits.
