Job Description Summary We are seeking a highly skilled on-shift Operations Advisor - Automation to join our Mine Automation team at Base Plant. You will support and enhance critical mine systems and applications that drive production optimization, reliability, and safety through a on-shift role that will lead cross functionally across multiple disciplines and vendor resources. This role is pivotal in maintaining and evolving our autonomous haulage system (AHS), fleet management, reliability, and safety systems, while also contributing to continuous improvement and technology integration across mining operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in engineering, computer science or related field with 5+ years of related work experience

  • Strong technical expertise in mine systems and industrial applications

  • General knowledge in most, with specific expertise in at least one, of the following areas

  • Mine Applications (Modular Dispatch, Frontrunner, Provision, etc.)

  • Networking (PCN/PIN architecture, Switches, Firewalls, Mobile repeaters, etc.)

  • Field Hardware (Panel configuration & installation, antennas & cabling, etc.)

  • Databases (SQL Administration, Replication,)

  • Proven ability to lead work and collaborate across departments

  • Previous experience in mining (operations, maintenance, technical) would be valued

  • Commitment to safety, operational discipline, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and optimize the AHS and Fleet Management System (Frontrunner, Dispatch, Provision, Database, Network, etc.), ensuring high availability
  • Administer, monitor, and optimize the Mine Reliability and Safety applications (Minecare, OAS, Database, Network), ensuring high availability
  • Supervise our on-site vendor resources directly supporting AHS, ensuring all deliverables are met
  • Provide technical leadership on shift including leading fleet campaigns and supporting on-shift activities for system upgrades.
  • Lead investigations into system outage events and provide regular updates to Mine Operations as a single point of contact (SPOC).
  • Act as a technical liaison with vendors and internal teams, supporting and driving technical troubleshooting efforts with a holistic “end-to-end” full system level perspective (application + network + infrastructure) as the central Suncor incident commander.
  • Champion reliability of AHS technology including field equipment and hardware by tracking bad actors and prioritizing activities
  • Provide direction to and collaborate closely with Mine Operations on application function and use, to ensure system reliability and effectiveness while driving best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement through system configuration and optimization.
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 off / 7 nights on / 7 off rotation (Wednesday to Tuesday)
