About the role

UCN acknowledges that we are on the traditional

COMPUTER INSTRUCTOR

DUTIES
Reporting to the Director, Training Solutions and working with on-campus and community-based staff, the instructor is responsible for

appropriate planning and delivery of a variety of continuing education computer courses, assessment where applicable, and for the evaluation

of student performance relating to their assignments. This position involves preparing curriculum and delivering computer courses to students

through a combination of face-to-face instruction and possibly, virtual lessons.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Combination of education and experience related to Office 365 computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,

and Teams as well as google-based tools, cloud platforms and Zoom application

  • Experience in training adult learners
  • Experience working in northern and/or Indigenous communities
  • Exemplary computer and keyboarding skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
  • Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS
• Post-secondary or Adult Education experience

  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language

  • Previous instructional experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • College Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously

completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
