Engineer, Construction Management
About the role
SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Construction Management provides engineering services for the safe construction and maintenance of natural gas transmission and infrastructure including pipelines, compression, storage, and other associated facilities to accommodate the expansion, maintenance, and integrity of the natural gas system.
Position Details
- Non-union - This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
- Execute long-term programs, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient construction services, compliance with standards, policies and legislative/regulatory requirements and alignment with project plans.
- Ensure that projects and programs are executed in accordance with planned budgets, schedules, and corporate governance requirements.
- Complete estimates for construction projects and create and evaluate procurement packages in alignment with internal purchasing policies and guidelines.
- Provide technical support by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of construction problems.
- Identify opportunities and develop plans and business cases to optimize systems, technologies and facilities while challenging current practices and providing advice for capital strategic and operational projects, automation standards and support strategies.
- Maintain an awareness of industry developments and best practices.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, or Petroleum preferred, others may be considered).
- Professional Engineer Designation qualified to practice in Saskatchewan.
- Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience related to the construction of pipeline and compression facilities in the oil and gas industry.
- Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A**n Engineer-in-training (new graduates or those with less than five years’ experience) may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required.
- This job requires travel time.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
- The job is safety sensitive, and as such, is subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol Policy (Pre-Employment or Pre-Placement for Safety Sensitive Positions).
